The Team

Curt Houdyshell, CPA is the managing partner and founder of Houdyshell & Associates LLC. Curt has over 15 years of accounting experience. He was previously a Senior Manager with Mayer Hoffman McCann P.C., one of the top 7 accounting firms in the United States. He was a founding member of the firm's SAS 70 Executive Team (the other two members were partners). He was responsible for leading the Midwest Region's SAS 70 efforts and was instrumental in the development of the firm's SAS 70 auditing methodology.

Curt's accounting career began while attending Missouri State University. While there he worked at St John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri processing payroll for 5,000 employees. During his two years at St John's, Curt performed all aspects of the payroll function as well gaining experience in Human Resources. He graduated Cum Laude from SMS in 1994 with a BS in Accounting. After graduation, Curt launched his public accounting career at BKD, LLP in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was transferred to their Kansas City office in 1995. In October 2004, Curt joined Mayer Hoffman McCann P.C. to develop their SAS 70 practice.

His experience in public accounting has allowed him to work with various industries such as manufacturing, wholesale and distribution, healthcare, government, non-for-profit and colleges & universities. Curt's expertise is in the area of audit and internal controls. With Curt's tenure in public accounting and his background in payroll processing, he has chosen to specialize in internal control reviews and SAS 70 audits for payroll service bureaus and other related service organizations.

Curt is a dedicated family man with a beautiful wife, whom he met at MSU in 1992 and two wonderful kids. He is also very active in his church and community. He enjoys remodeling houses, mountain biking, outdoors, playing games with his kids and helping his wife in her garden.
